World Environment Day celebration in Surkhet

World Environment day was celebrated by Navjyoti Center and Navjyoti Cooperative on June 4 at Bulbule Park in Birendranagar, Nepal. The chairperson of Bulbule Park and the officer in charge of the district forest office was present among the guests. About 150 participants from Navjyoti women groups, youth clubs, share holders of Navjyoti Cooperative and staff were present on the occasion. The program consisted of planting flowering trees, the handing over of dust bins, and cleaning the compound. Guests spoke on issues like the need to preserve our environment, natural disasters, global warming, and sanitation. They called for individual responsibility to protect the environment.

Navjyoti school children were given an orientation on June 5 about the importance of environment day. A drawing competition on the environment was conducted for all the classes of Navjyoti School and winners were given prizes by the principal. Children took their opportunity to clean the compound and to dispose the waste materials. See more photos.
