Sister Jyoti Thattaparampil (right) and Sister Rosita Kavilpurayidathil (middle) meet with Kumari (left) as part of the Navjyoti Center based in the District of Surkhet in Nepal. Kumari was abandoned by her husband after she developed skin cancer, leaving her alone with a three-year-old child. Displaced by recent flooding in Nepal, she moved into a government shelter near the SCN ministry, Navjyoti Center, where she was discovered by the Sisters. She needs much medical help, as she is beginning to loose sight in her only eye, but she is fighting to survive for her son who is now 15. He is studying at school and doing what he can to take care of his mother. Sisters Jyoti and Rosita have taken on Kumari as one of their special needs cases and are working to help her seek treatment and find ways to obtain the costly medicines that she needs.
