Wellness weekend for the hospice staff in Metsimotlhabe, Botswana

Sisters Vinaya Chalil and Sunila Erumangalathu organized a wellness weekend for the Pabalelong Hospice staff. They invited Anurag Arora, the program coordinator of “The Art of Living” from Bangalore, India, who was on a short visit to Botswana. Though it was organized for the Hospice staff — both the in-patient unit and the home care volunteers — it was open to all. Some people from the parish community also participated in the Program. People, who work with the sick especially with the terminal and chronic patients, experience a lot of stress in their profession. After the two-day workshop, many of them felt that yoga exercises and meditations were very useful for them to cope with their stress and it re-energized them. One of them said, “I feel fresh after the exercises and I want to continue doing these exercises at home.” The hospice staff has decided to do two to three exercises every day as a group, after their morning prayer.
