Hello, SCN community! My name is Julia and I am thrilled to be serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer this year in Nazareth through the Notre Dame Mission Volunteers program. I will be working with the SCN’s Environmental Sustainability Team, assisting with eco-restoration efforts and sustainability research & solutions for our local and global SCN communities. I graduated this Spring from Saint Louis University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies. I was really involved in immigration advocacy and service throughout my college career, and have been passionate about serving others for as long as I can remember! I love to travel — I studied abroad in South Africa and have taken immersion trips to El Salvador, Peru, and Belize — as well as read, learn new languages, craft, and garden. I am originally from Northern Kentucky, and am looking forward to bringing my education and skills back to this state to serve alongside the Sisters as we seek to “care for our common home” together.
I can’t wait to join this incredible community and get to know you throughout this year!
Hello, all!
Thanks for such special and warm ‘welcomes’ as I start this year of service in Nazareth. Your warm virtual embrace inspires and motivates me to jump in to the SCN community and this work. If you see me around campus, please say hello — as I will try to do, too!
Blessings!
I can’t wait to meet you, Julia. You’ll love all our little critters, and we do have a number of bee hives here as well.
Julia, cannot wait to see what other secrets you uncover on campus!
Stay safe
