It was only a little over one year ago that Hurricane Harvey tied Hurricane Katrina as the costliest tropical cyclone on record with its catastrophic rainfall-triggered flooding in the Houston metropolitan area and Southeast Texas.
Volunteers for the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, led by Sister Luke Boiarski, recently completed their third week-long disaster relief effort in Houston, Texas. “I want to thank those who have donated to the SCN Disaster Relief Ministry that enables others to be of service to those in great need. Also, thank you for your prayers,” says Sister Luke.
Their continued efforts in assisting with the rebuilding phase after Hurricane Harvey was greatly appreciated by the people they came into contact with. The volunteers, 13 in all, were engaged in a wide array of projects. They installed tile, painted walls, repaired ceilings, and provided a listening presence to those who are still dealing with the damage from the storm. Sister Luke was pleased to see the progress being made in the ways the SCN volunteers are helping others bounce back from the flooding.
