On Friday, April 20, during the 9:00 a.m. liturgy which was held at St. Louise Chapel, eight students from Vincentian Academy, Rita Canton, principal, Jacqueline Hopkins, assistant to the principal, Lynne Belko, parent, and Tootsie Gish, SCNA were commissioned for their volunteer journey to Belize on Sunday, April 22.

After arrival in Belize early Sunday afternoon they were warmly greeted by Abel and Maggie Vargas, as well as, Janes Muschamp and Beto Coc (all of Hand in Hand Ministry). They were given a grand tour of the city followed by a delicious Belizean meal and a wonderful liturgy at St. Martin’s Church.

On Monday and Tuesday at the worksite, the students from Vincentian Academy and other volunteers began to construct the wooden planked house for Sherlene Garnett and her children. Later a beautiful color of emerald green paint was applied and the trim was painted a light mint green.

By mid-afternoon on Tuesday, the flooring and walls were completed. Roofing and veranda were on the agenda for Wednesday.
