An updated library was set up in Chandapura by the younger Sisters of Charity of Nazareth under the initiative of Sister Amrita Manjaly, the provincial. This was a dream which finally turned into a reality during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Sisters worked meticulously every day; collecting, categorizing, labeling, and placing the books on their respective shelves, thus dedicating their time for this community activity. The library accommodates around 2,000 books with more than 1,000 under the spiritual and inspirational category.
Sister Amrita in her introductory address during the inauguration encouraged the sisters to consider this Library as a House of God (the giver of all knowledge) urging them to spend quality time reading these books.
Sister Alisha Anthony one of the youngest members inaugurated the library by the ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by the blessing of the library by Father Bijesh, OSFS. The young Sisters were felicitated with bouquets by the provincial in appreciation for their collective efforts in setting up the library.
As a former librarian I can appreciate the work involved in this undertaking. I’m sure at times it seemed absolutely daunting. Congratulations for the undertaking and for bringing it to completion. Now, read, read, read!
Congratulations and praise for all the hard work that went into this endeavor. I know well what it takes to organize a library and then to keep it up. I do hope this effort results in more reading by all–spiritual, educational and novels. So much to learn in all areas.
Congratulations to everyone in Chandapura. It was a long pending need at Chandapura. I hope there will be an effective librarian who will maintain and enhance the library facilities. And let the treasure house be a resource centre for the whole Province.
