Twenty members of the faculty and staff of two
Memphis Jubilee Schools, St. John Catholic School and St. Therese the Little Flower
Primary School, recently traveled to Nazareth for a retreat
reflecting on, Our Mission as
Jubilee Catholic School Faculty and Staff
. The retreat was hosted by
the Office of Congregational Ministries and is part of the covenant agreement
with the Jubilee Schools, which was established in order that the Catholic
identity of the school be carried out in the spirit of Catherine Spalding and
the charism of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. The
Jubilee Schools of Memphis serve children from the most economically
challenged neighborhoods.

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth began
the mission in Memphis in 1882. Over the past 133 years, SCNs have staffed
schools, an orphanage, and social service missions throughout the Memphis area.
