IMMIGRATION 101: 1:00PM to 3:00PM
Inspired by questions frequently fielded by our agency from legal colleagues, this 2 hour workshop provides non-immigration legal service providers with an overview of immigration law and how it affects the clients we share. The first section will include an introduction to immigration concepts and procedures. The second section will focus on the impact of immigration in different aspects of the law, including an opportunity for questions and answers of concerns of the local legal offices and immigration advocates. Application for CLE credits pending. The trainer for this program is Catholic Charities of Louisville attorney Sarah Nielsen.
HUMAN TRAFFICKING: 3:30PM t0 5:30PM
In the United States, awareness of human trafficking has begun to rise only in the last decade. Yet slavery still exists both in this country and abroad, and it ranks as the fastest growing criminal industry worldwide. In this seminar, you will acquire a foundational understanding of modern-day human trafficking, including both labor and sexual exploitation. You will learn about forms of trafficking, legal definitions, tips for identifying trafficking victims, and resources available to domestic and foreign survivors. You will leave the seminar as an informed professional, equipped with the tools to address human trafficking in your workplace and community. Application for Social Work CEU credits pending. The trainer for this program is Marissa Castellanos of Kentucky Rescue and Restore.
