The SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program arrived in New Orleans last night and have begun their home repair work with St Bernard Project this morning. After a brief orientation with the site managers, the group of 6 also had the opportunity to meet the owner Pam, who has been waiting to return to her home for over 10 years since hurricane Katrina hit. In only a few shorts weeks Pam and her family will finally be home again! This project is also special because it is the home that was sponsored by the House of Charity of New Orleans and the Charity Federation.

Pam expressed her overwhelming gratitude for all of the volunteers and told the group that while she has endured many moments of despair after contractor fraud (amongst other obstacles), there has definitely been good to come from the tragedy, citing the people from all over the world who have come together because of it as well. Regardless of race or religion we are all in this together. Tragedy brings us close when we need it the most.
