Dear Sisters and Associates,
As promised in our June letter, we are sending some helpful reflection material for your personal/communal prayer during the months of July/August. At this time we invite you to reflect on the first phrase of the 2018 theme, Deepening Oneness, by using some of the materials on this attached sheet. In addition to the printed materials, you can view the video, We are Many Parts.
This video was made a few years ago and shows SCN/As from different parts of the Congregation. We are sharing it again for your prayer as it is a wonderful example of our multiculturality and is a delightful reminder of SCN oneness.
You will note that the other suggestions for your personal/communal prayer include quotes from Scripture, SCN Constitutions, GA 2013 Directives, Congregation’s Actuarial reflection and the SCN Earth Statement. We seek to deepen our oneness by intentionally reflecting on these again to see what further guidance and insight into our future they provide as we prepare ourselves for GA 2018.
During July and August, we invite you to:
- Draw prayer and reflection from these suggestions as well as continuing to use the mantra and reflecting on the General Assembly Prayer Card 10 minutes each day.
- Reflect on these materials in your faith group or communities.
- Reflect on what the logo means to you or create poetry, song, or other artistic forms that express your insight into the logo and theme. Post your comments below or send them to Anita Smith at email@example.com or by mail to: Anita Smith, P.O. Box 172, Nazareth, KY 40048.
Your response is optional but your creativity can enrich us all. We welcome these expressions and thoughts as they will support all of us in deepening oneness.
May the spirit of Catherine Spalding inspire us throughout these months leading up to General Assembly 2018.
