Incoming freshman were introduced to their new school during Summer Session. Summer Session starts with a Mass and brunch for incoming freshman and their families. The students then spend the week at LaRoche College, taking classes in Math, English, Social Studies, Science and Religion. Vincentian Academy teachers join the students, helping them to get acclimated to each other and to high school. In addition, the days are interspersed with games and activities. Incoming Vincentian Academy seniors are also present to lead activities. The week included a group trip to a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game (see photo) and ended with a banquet for students and their families. Principal Rita Canton said the week is very important to the students and leaves a lasting memory, “Even our graduating seniors mention it. The students really value it.”
