Steve, volunteering in Las Flores, Belize for two months, shared with us his amazement at the work of the villagers on the church expansion.
See what happens when you don’t walk around the village every day to see what is happening? They take the roof off the church without you! Here are two views of the church with the roof removed.
Yesterday, 26 parishioners showed up and took all the lights and fans down, removed all the sheet metal roofing and then took all the roof trusses apart and moved each piece outside. Looking through the new and old door openings, you can see sky above the far wall. Today we built scaffolding inside so that masons can add 24” more height to the walls. I’ll bet they have the roof back on in time for Mass May 4.
