The SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program celebrates a new chapter in the vibrant ministry’s history. Sister Luke Boiarski and Felicia Trager held a house warming and grand opening of the temporary residence for volunteers at the newly renovated and newly named, St. Joseph the Carpenter House in Nazareth, Kentucky.
Sister Luke addressed the crowd that had gathered by saying, “As we bless this house, we do so with hearts full of gratitude, and we know that this house will be a place where volunteers will gather, where we prepare to go forth from Nazareth to minister to and with God’s people.”
Now volunteers have a space to commune with one another at Nazareth when invited lay women and men come to experience a cross-cultural partnership with people, especially the oppressed, economically poor and marginalized. A place to build community and in turn model that community to the larger world.

This house, prepared for the volunteers who need accommodations before and after going on missions to the needy, is a work of love and art. So tastefully and carefully renovated, keeping the original ambiance, yet introducing just the right level of welcoming comfort.
May generous persons who come to stay at the St. Joseph House and join us in our SCN mission be blessed!
Peace and blessings!

St. Joseph the Carpenter House is a wonderful boost and a powerful witness to the SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program. Thank you Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Sister Luke,Felicia and Patsy for your vision and leadership with the Lay Mission Volunteer program. As a participant in this program,I can attest that involvement in this program makes such a powerful difference in the lives of all, connecting many to the heart of Christ.
St.Joseph the Carpenter has to be happy to see his house so artistically fashioned in a “down to earth” style. The pictures of his Holy Family must make him feel right at home. The bedrooms’ décor, highlighting different mission areas, gives a universal appeal.
All this is indeed inspiring to the volunteers and to the entire SCN family. Thank you.
I am impressed with all you do for the underprivileged and those often left out. God bless your thoughtful efforts.
