Spiritual leadership key to modern education
Thirty two sisters with passion for education gathered on May 9 & 10 at Nazareth Convent, Chandapura to attend a two day seminar on ‘Emerging Spirituality – a new consciousness’. The seminar was conducted by Bro. Philip Pinto, former Superior General, Congregation of Christian Brothers. From the beginning it was clear that our souls would be disturbed as we were invited to move away from a vision of the universe cantered on humans to a vision cantered on God and God’s creation. We were invited to respond to the call of Jesus to ‘LIFE’. Speaking on the ascent of woman, Bro. Pinto challenged us to fearlessly follow the truth to where it leads us, to free ourselves to welcome the God of the future. Using scriptural reference and great mystics of all times, we were enlightened to see leadership of the future as an audacious response to the discipleship of Jesus. We were joined by two lay vice-principals of SCN schools in Bangalore Province. Reflecting on the seminar, both of them responded alike: “we are used to seeing sisters as administers in our schools. Here we truly saw SCNs and we are proud to be part of you”. Sisters in Bangalore were also privileged to have SCNs Rena Fernandez and Sophia Pampackal from Patna Province attending the seminar. The seminar was organized by Sister Amrita Manjaly, the coordinator of Education of the Province. Sisters continued to meet on May 11 to be educated on the matters related to leadership in schools and maintenance of records in the offices.
