Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and SCN Associates gathered at Metsimotlhabe, Botswana, on Sept. 26, 2015, to celebrate St. Vincent’s Feast. It was a joyful day especially for the Associates. Seven candidates made their first commitment and eight renewed their commitment at the liturgy celebrated by Rev. Shiju Paul, SVD. The liturgy was preceded by a half-day recollection presented by Father Shiju based on Pope Francis’ Joy of the Gospel. It was very challenging and instilled an urge to really live out the Gospel of Joy in service of God and the poor. It was also an occasion for the Sisters to renew their vows. The Mass was followed by a shared meal. It was indeed a wonderful day to be renewed in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and his love particular love for the poor and downtrodden.
