Sisters in Nepal share this story of a joint field trip for students in their rural child centers.
I wanted to share this story with you …
Some of you have seen these children and visited the child centers in Surkhet. It was a great day for the 65 small children of 10 child centers run by the SCNs in Surkhet. The children were taken to see different places around Surkhet which many of them had never seen.
They were so excited to go around in the school bus provided by Navjyoti School. They were taken to historical places like Kankrebihar, Deutibajai Temple, Clock Tower, The City Park, Bulbule Tal (bubbling spring) and the museum where they were able to see various cultural dresses, ornaments, and life size statues of the different ethnic groups of people and the things they used in the past.
The children felt great and enjoyed the day fully. They shared their meals together, the teachers and the staff entertained them with games and dances. It was a beautiful experience for all of them to come together and learn about each other as well as to gain knowledge about their own place.
When they went back to their own houses they had lots of things to tell their parents and other siblings. The excitement never ended, even when they went to their child centers the next day, they were sharing about what they saw during their tour.
These under privileged children who hardly have the opportunity even to come to town, were provided with such beautiful experiences they will never forget.
Some of them asked their teachers when the next tour will be? Children are children after all. Their parents were very positive and made requests to take them out for such tours so that their knowledge will be widened. Some parents said they had not seen their children so happy and excited.
