A health camp was held in a remote area of Jajarkot district in West Nepal on May 24 and 25, 2017 by the Navjyoti Mobile Health Centre, Surkhet. It took six hours for the Sisters to reach the camp through good and bad roads by their mobile vehicle. On the first day, Dr. Pawan attended to the patients from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the following day, they saw the patients from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The patients came from far away villages by foot as there is no other mode of conveyance. Some patients were brought on horseback as they could not walk up and down the hills. Incredibly, 875 patients were examined and given medicines within these two days.
It was a successful mission. The Sisters were happy and content to reach out to the needy people who have no medical facilities here. Sister Jyoti wishes to thank Father Bobby Joseph S.J. (Mobile Health Clinics treasurer of Nepal) who took the trouble to be with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and to give his valuable assistance.
Jyoti Thattaparampil, SCN, says, “Thank you to Dr. Pawan and our staff members who attended to the patients with love, compassion, and dedication. And to to Mr. Chris Fussner, a donor, without whose financial help we are unable to carry out this compassionate mission.”
