Many Sisters of Charity of Nazareth recently celebrated their jubilees, which marks the anniversary of taking first vows as an SCN.

Twenty-one sisters were honored for 55-75 years, representing a total of 1,330 years of dedicated service.

To commemorate the occasion, the sisters requested donations be made to persons in need. A collection was taken up at St. Vincent Church at Nazareth in the week leading up to the celebration and $800 was raised for St. Vincent de Paul Mission Store and Food Pantry in Bardstown.

Executive Director of SVDP Outreach Ministries Susan Hardin said the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have always been very supportive of the efforts of SVDP.

“We are all part of the Vincentian Family,” Hardin said. “The Sisters helped to get the new food pantry off the ground. They can take a lot of credit for our Bread to Life Food Pantry.”

She said they have also been active in the Room in the Inn program for homeless in the area, as well as volunteering at the mission store and the pantry.

Hardin plans to use the gift from the sisters to support persons in need in the area, including the purchase of air-conditioning units for the elderly.
