Sunday, March 26, was a day of joy and surprises for Sister Miriam Ann Walter, SCN, as she celebrated 70 years of religious life. Mass for her intentions was offered at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville, Kentucky. Sister Rochelle Marie Ernst, SCN, together with parish friends surprised Sister Miriam with a luncheon in the social hall. Such an event called for not one, but two cakes and many flowers and well wishes. Her youngest sister, Mary Jo Krupp, was in attendance.

Rev. Michael Wimsatt gives Sister Miriam a blessing.

Sister Miriam Ann grew up in Louisville and attended St. Agnes School where, she said, she had wonderful teachers. She graduated from Presentation Academy and then “went right to the convent” on Sept. 24, 1944. In recalling the memories of the past 70 years, Sister said “I’m glad I am an SCN. I’ve been happy all these years.”
