Lisa Polega, SLW, is beginning the three year process of transferring into the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.
Lisa entered religious life with the Sisters of the Living Word in 2002 and ministers in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Lisa is particularly active with the Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants, a network of over 150 religious representing approximately 50 religious communities working toward justice for immigrants.
She holds a B.S. in Geography & Environmental Planning/Business Administration from Elmhurst College and an M.S. in Theology from Loyola University Chicago. Prior to entering community, she was an environmental consultant for about 10 years.
Lisa first became acquainted with SCNs when she ministered at Sacred Heart Southern Missions in Holly Springs, MS, where she used her previous business experience to assist minorities and women to create and sustain small businesses. Her attraction to the SCN Community was fostered by her coming to Nazareth for retreats and her deepening attraction to Mother Catherine Spalding.
Lisa, a native of the Chicago area, enjoys road and off-road bicycling, working out, and exploring local neighborhoods, particularly coffee houses and book stores. She welcomes the opportunity to get to know SCNs and learn more about the SCN mission, lifestyles and ministries.
During this three year period, Lisa remains a Sister of the Living Word as a perpetually professed sister. Liz Wendeln, SCN, will help direct her through this process and she will be a member of a local community.
