Sister Judy Raley and James M. Hobson, Memorial president and chief executive.
Memorial Health Care System celebrates with Sister Judy Raley to mark her Golden Jubilee – a milestone denoting 50 years as a Sister of Charity of Nazareth.

Sister Judy embarked upon her journey with Christ here in Chattanooga 50 years ago. She began her ministry as a chaplain at Memorial, where she spent 12 years providing spiritual care for patients, families and staff. She also held the position of vice president of Mission Integration, in which she was responsible for weaving Memorial’s mission into the fabric of Memorial’s daily processes.

Today, Sister Judy’s leadership and influence is felt all over the United States and the world in her current role as Provincial of the Western Province of Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. She also serves on the Memorial Health Care System board.

“We are honored to be able to celebrate this remarkable achievement with Sister Judy,” said James M. Hobson, Memorial president and chief executive. “She infused her joy and compassion into the fabric at Memorial, and it can still be felt today and helps provide the foundation for Memorial’s unique and compassionate culture.”

Sister Eileen Wrobleski, senior vice president of Mission Integration at Memorial, said Sister Judy had a compassionate and caring nature that was felt by everyone whose life she touched.

“Sister Judy’s compassion has always been a source of encouragement to others,” Sister Eileen said. “From patients and families whom she approached through their needs, to physicians, nurses and others who were strengthened by her touch – she valued everyone as an individual and genuinely cared for them”

Sister Judy’s gift, and the gift of all the sisters that have served and continue to serve Memorial, is one of dignity and respect and one that selflessly promotes Memorial’s guiding principals of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence.

Officials said, “We at Memorial are humbled and deeply grateful for her many gifts.”
