The Diocese of Gaborone, Botswana, welcomed the famous preaching team from the Divine Retreat Centre, Kerala, India. Divine Retreat Centre is the largest catholic retreat centre in the world and over 10 million pilgrims from all over the world have attended retreats there since 1990.
Fr. Mathew Naickomparambil, the founder of the Retreat centre, arrived in Botswana on 17, March, 2014 along with his team Sr. Therese, Mr. George and Mr. Wilson. They conducted Bible Convention and Healing services at three places in the Diocese — Cathedral Church, Kanye and Lobatse. The theme of the convention was A New Pentecost for the Whole of Botswana. The team gave a two day special convention to the priests and religious of the Diocese. They also gave couple of short sessions to the members of the Kerala Catholic Community in Botswana in their local language.
Prior to the convention they visited Pabalelong Hospice where SCNs are ministering and prayed for the patients and joined for lunch with Fr. Tony Rebello and the SCNs and some other guests. People in great numbers attended the convention in all the places. Many healings both physical and spiritual took place during the retreat. No amount of words can explain the transformation that took place during the moments when the word became flesh.
This was the third time the group had been invited to Botswana. Being at the places where SCNs minister, they had an opportunity to attend the conventions and also to be part of the organizing teams. In fact at Kanye, the retreat team was accommodated at the SCN residence. We thank and praise the Lord for the blessings that the catholic community in Botswana received during the days of Conventions.
