Sister Luke Boiarski and Felicia Rowe of the SCN Volunteer program held a raffle drawing today in the Motherhouse dining room at Nazareth, Ky. The prize to be given away, a pair of tickets in the grandstands for one of the greatest sporting spectacles in the country, the Kentucky Derby. Sister John Ann Kulina drew the winning ticket, Shannon Donahue of New Haven, Ky. She and a guest will enjoy Derby Day at Churchill Downs this year sitting just past the finish line. Over $2,300 was raised in this effort for the SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program which will go towards supplies in rebuilding communities in Belize, Appalachia, New Orleans, Botswana and and other regions.
The SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program, sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, invites lay women and men of all ages and religions into service with economically challenged people in Belize, Appalachia, New Orleans, Botswana and and other regions.
