The 44th Annual Running of the Rodents took place at Spalding University in Louisville, Ky! The theme for this annual Derby event was “Superheroes.” SCN Julia Clare Fontaine started this event many decades ago. Today hundreds of students and staff paid tribute to Sister Julie Clare and this unique tradition she began at the university. Margaret Rodericks, SCN, who is in ministry at Spalding University, joined in the fun today. She was on hand at the races to represent a woman that many of the students say is a superhero – Mother Catherine Spalding. The students insisted that Mother Catherine have her very own super hero cape, which they created, commemorating the annual Derby rat race. Several students asked to take selfies with Sister Margaret.
