SCN Mobile Health Clinic Helps Nomadic Tribe Members in Nepal

From Cecilia Simick, SCN

Dear Friends,

Namaste from Surkhet. I would like to share some of these pictures with you. The Routes of Nepal are a small group of nomadic people living in the forest. Some of them live in Surkhet. During our Mobile Health Clinic last month we had met Karna Bahadur Shahi Raute. We did medical a check-up for him. We had told him if anyone is sick in his group to send them next month for medicine. So this time two of them came, one of them, Balal Bahadur Shahi, with severe common cold and fever. We gave them medical check-ups and explained to them how to take the medicines. I asked him to take the tablet for his cold. He took it very nicely. The older man, Dhan Bhadur Shahi, was given a medical check-up too, he was fine. He was very happy and started saying a long poem to tell us thank you. He was so happy he promised us to come next time with a wooden bowl as a gift for us which they make in the forest. The rest of the patients were delighted to see them talking to us in a friendly manner. We hope they bring their sick members for treatment regularly. We are trying to build friendly relationship with them so that they would allow us to go to their community in the forest and take care of their health needs and gradually teach them health and hygiene.
