A group of SCN Lay Mission Volunteers from Memphis and Mississippi have been in Bardstown, Ky., all week working on two homes. This morning they painted and patched the porch and raked and planted flowers in the yard of Katherine Bryant.  Katherine, who has lived in Bardstown all her life, says the volunteers are a blessing.  Friends say she has never asked for help herself, but instead is well known in the community for the many ways she has assisted others over her lifetime including helping to take care of her 12 siblings.

Earlier this week, the volunteers started at midnight on Labor Day preparing pork in a smoker.  The volunteers organized a party for the SCN family members at Nazareth.  This same group brought their smoker last year to the Nazareth Picnic where they helped raise money for SCN missions with their BBQ sandwiches. Three years ago, several of these volunteers travelled to Belize to build a house for a family in need.

Our thanks to these volunteers who have taken their holiday and used their time off from work to reach out to others!
