From Malini Manjoly, SCN
The 61st Indian Republic Day was celebrated on January 26, 2010 with gusto by the Social Work trainees of Arunodaya. SCN Vice President, Sister Teresa Kotturan was the chief guest. She urged the aspiring social workers to preach the good news to the poor like that of Jesus. She said that we have the responsibility to care for all parts of the body and especially our poor brothers and sisters who are least cared for. The good news is that God loves us and we in turn have to love another, said Sister Teresa.
In her address to the students, Roselyn Karakattu, SCN, said that India has one of the best Constitutions in the world. What is lacking is the implementation of the Constitution. She told the students before you enjoy your rights remember that you have responsibilities to fulfill. She asked them, “as future social workers how do you make the ordinary people responsible citizens?”
Others present were SCN Provincial, Sangeeta Ayithamattam, Marcelline Indwar, SCN, students and the Provincial House Community.
