SCNs Anne Marie O’Shea and Ann Whitaker were honored to celebrate a burial service for former SCN, Mary Bourdelais. Mary was from Brockton, Massachusetts, and taught at St. Edwards School for a number of years. Mary was a dear friend of Miriam Corcoran, SCN, who entered the community the same year, as well as Evelyn Hurley, SCN.

Sister Anne Marie says, “The dates for burial kept being postponed and we could not figure out why. Well, the funeral home called and Mary was laid to rest on July 19 – the former Feast of St. Vincent de Paul … her vow day. We think she chose this special day!

“We blessed her grave with water from Catherine Spalding’s Spring at old St. Thomas, prayed the scriptures, and gave great thanks for Mary’s service as an SCN.

“Mary now rests in peace reunited with her three sisters, mother and father and maternal grandparents at Calvary Cemetery where other SCNs are buried. We pray in gratitude for Mary Bordelais. May she rest now in eternal peace!”
