Caring for the earth
As the monsoon started cooling the soil, Child clubs, Youth clubs and Women groups in Koldada belonging to Navjyoti Center along with Navjyoti Cooperative took the opportunity to plant trees on the hills of Koldada and the nearby community forest. Even the children from the child center helped to carry the seedlings. Saplings were supplied by District forest office free of cost. They planted about 300 trees in one day. The spirit has spread to the clubs in other areas who are waiting for their chance to plant trees in their areas. They are on a campaign to make Surkhet a green city.
Navjyoti school children and the trainees of Navjyoti Center honored their teachers on 9th July on the occasion of Teachers day with cultural programs, bouquets, tika, and gifts. There was great rejoicing among the students and trainees as they planned the celebration. The day ended with a meal for all the staff and employees of Navjyoti School and Center.
Health camp for villagers
On 10th July a medical camp was organized by Navjyoti Center in Pokhari School, a remote village where the mostly Dalit community lives. The camp was held to remember late Chetan Puri, on his birthday. He was a business man, a social worker and an active member of Navjyoti youth club. He had met with a motorcycle accident in April 2017. Camp was held in his village and his family was present throughout the camp. 220 people including many senior citizens were examined and given free medication.
