Promise Packs

The Chattanooga SCNA group: Cindy Carroll, Jackie Jackson, Pam Lawson, Jerry McCrary, Deb Moore, Betsy Kammerdiener, Lisa Harrison, Jean Payne, Pam O’Connell, Jim O’Connell,Karen Sloan, Karen Frank, Carol Newton, Steve Newton along with SCNs Celine Osbourn and Judy Raley (top photo) participate in a program called Promise Packs to provide food in a backpack for children living in Greenwood Terrace who are eligible for the school lunch program. 50 children from ages 5 to 14 participate in the program.

The SCNAs take turns shopping at the Chattanooga Food Bank each week and delivering the food to Greenwood Terrace. The staff there pack the backpacks each week. The group partners with Read Chattanooga which provides an age appropriate book for each child.

The SCNAs wanted to do something special for Christmas. They provided small items such as Christmas pencils, star erasers, Christmas ornaments, crayons, Christmas books and Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes to stuff in a colorful stocking.

At their Christmas Faith Group meeting they enjoyed stuffing the stockings as evidenced in the pictures.
