International Day of Peace
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on Sept. 21. It is a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. This year the focus is on the Right to Peace.
Statement on gun violence
The most recent gun violence in Parkland, FL, reaffirms that America has a gun violence epidemic and gun violence is a complex issue with many areas of it needing to be addressed. We stand with many who grieve these deaths, pray with these families and work to support policies that reduce death and injury from gun violence.

On Feb. 13, as part of the Catholic Conference of Kentucky’s, Catholics at the Capitol, Joetta Venneman visited Senator Jimmy Higdon and Representative Chad McCoy on issues related to the death penalty, the educational scholarship fund, and providing appropriate accommodations for pregnant women in the workplace.
