Nazareth Vidya Niketan, Chatra SCNs, teachers, staff and students tried to live out the love of our patron saint, St. Vincent de Paul in our lives by conducting a Sports Day for the less privileged children of our neighborhood on 13 October.

The strike (work stoppage) of the government Para teachers has practically paralyzed the running of most of the government run schools in the locality. We organized the Sports competition in order to bring some cheer into their lives.

Around 200 children marched into the school ground with much apprehension, not knowing what we had planned for them. The teachers and students quickly removed their fears and eventually they got into the mood of the games.

Most of the children had not ever participated in a Sports Competition and had no idea about regular games for sports. Such is the deplorable affairs of their schools.

Nazareth school students generously contributed prizes to every child whether they were winners or not. At the end of the program each child was given a packet of biscuits.

Rashmi Toppo, SCN organized the event with the cooperation and contributions of the students, teachers and staff as a mark of our Bicentennial cCelebration with the less privileged children of the locality.
