The Annual General Body meeting of Nazareth Hospital Mokama Nurses’ Alumni Association was held at Asha Kiran in Dharuhera on Nov. 6. About 35 travelled by bus from Delhi. It was a delightful and enjoyable time together and all felt that it was like a picnic.
Dr. Ancilla Kozhipat, SCN, was the chief guest and some of the nurses were overjoyed to see her after many years.
A special invitee to our meeting was Carolyn Smeltzer, PHD in Nursing, who was present among the SCN Volunteers at Dharuhera. Her presence made our gathering an international one.
Sister Ancilla briefed the group about the happenings at Nazareth Hospital. The group was happy to hear about the various programs like the HIV and AIDS program, palliative care, and geriatric care.
Carolyn spoke about the need for preparedness to face the challenges of aging and being ready for a second career to keep oneself “young in spirit, active and useful.”
Nirmala Mulackal, SCN, thanked the Delhi alumni for their keen interest in supporting our work with their annual contribution for the education, care and support of children.
The presence of the family members of the nurses and the SCN volunteers from the United States added great joy to the gathering.
The joy of the day was doubled with the colorful cultural program presented by the children of Asha Kiran and the sharing of the meal with them afterwards. Everyone enjoyed the time together and left with the feeling of wanting to repeat the visit more often.
Sincere appreciation and gratitude go to SCNs Lucy Puthukkatt, Sujata Maliakal, and Agnes Tudu, staff and the children for the grand reception, the wonderful program, and the sumptuous meal.
