Decked with balloons and other natural decorations, Mokama Nazareth Academy compound looked festive on its first Annual Sports Day on Dec. 22, 2017. Shama Perveen, the Muslim girl from Dariyarpur, Mokama who won the Kabadi championship at the 2017 Asian Games in Iran was the chief guest. She passionately spoke to the students to pursue their dreams and requested the parents to encourage the children to develop their God-given talents and not to limit them only to book knowledge. Special guest of honor was the parish priest, Rev, Bagya Raj.

Hours before, children excitedly lined up to perform various sports items and drills in their new costumes. Every child took part in one item or the other. Children in their colorful costumes mesmerized the audience with various drills. Parents and well-wishers were present in large numbers and busy clicking photos and applauding the winners of various sports. Well done, it is indeed a great achievement for the school staff, students, principal and the Sisters!

Nazareth Academy, Mokama, was established in our Bicentennial year 2012 to meet the long-standing demand of the people to have an English medium school in Mokama. It is financially supported by the Gaya Nazareth Academy society. The strength of the school is 550 students, from kindergarten to class five.
