After many months of unceasing contact and interaction with migrant labourers and officials in the northern region of the Kerala State in India, Sister Gracy Thombrakudy, SCN, and Rev. Immanuel, SJ, have successfully obtained labour cards for three migrant workers from the Kerala Migrant Worker’s Welfare plan. “This is the beginning of the rightful benefits for thousands of workers.” says Sister Gracy. The team had earlier organized a health awareness workshop for migrant workers that was based on tuberculosis and the necessary steps to be taken for a healthy living environment in their residential areas. Organizing various sessions with the migrant workers on a regular basis in order to enable them to live a life of dignity and emphasizing the need for a strong bondage between the migrant workers has been the prime focus of this ministry to the migrant workers.
