Sister Mary Middendorf planted marigolds and nurtured them until they sprouted recently. Sisters on each floor of Carrico have planted seeds that will eventually be transplanted to a place on Nazareth grounds for all to see.
Today she reported that the marigolds have four leaves and are ready to go in the ground. Sister Mary asked, “Where are we going to plant these (as she calls them ‘stinky’) marigolds? The coffin outside looks like a good place,” referring to a raised garden bed that resembles the shape of a coffin in the courtyard near the church.
