Margaret Meisner, SCN, 80, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, died at Nazareth Home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. She had been a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 61 years.

For 20 years, Sister Margaret’s ministry was in education. She taught primary grades in Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and Kentucky, including Community Catholic School in Louisville. Sister Margaret later served in parish ministry in Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Belize. In 1979, an interest in contemplative prayer led to Sister Margaret spending months in solitude, living in a shelter she built herself at the Transfiguration House of Prayer facility in Butler, Pennsylvania.  In 1990, Sister Margaret began her ministry in Arkansas, where she lived for more than 25 years. At St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, Sister Margaret served as the director of guest relations and as a patient representative.

Sister Margaret is survived by a brother, Maurice Meisner, of Louisville, Kentucky, her nieces and nephews, and by her religious community.
