M. Annette Kasper, SCN, passed into eternity on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the age of 93 and in the 74th year of her religious life. Sister Annette originally entered the Congregation of the Vincentian Sisters of Charity from St. Michael Parish in Munhall, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor and Masters in Education degrees from Duquesne University. Her teaching ministry spanned 40 years in elementary and secondary education where she taught and served as principal in the dioceses of Pittsburgh and Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Youngstown, Ohio, and Springfield – Cape Girardeau, Missouri. After leaving the education ministry, Sister Annette served in various ministries including a baker, dietary aide and sacristan for the Vincentian Sisters, and as a laundry supervisor and office assistant at Vincentian Regency Nursing Home.

Sister Annette was known for her great love of nature. She loved and cared for animals and had a green thumb which allowed plants to thrive under her care. An avid sports fan, she rooted for her favorite Pittsburgh teams while tirelessly crocheting numerous afghans and other beautiful items.

Sister Annette was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Ann Kasper, and her brother, Joseph, and sisters, Helen and Mary. She is survived by her brother, John, and sister, Veronica, as well as nieces, nephews and her Sisters in community.

The Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, September 14 in the St. Louise Convent Chapel with internment in the Sisters’ cemetery on the convent grounds.
