First envisioned by Louisville native Churchill Davenport in 2008, the Kentucky School of Art at Spalding University is working to fill the need of an undergraduate school of art in the Derby City. As featured on the school’s website, KSA’s vision is to “become a college with art at its center: all disciplines and studies will branch out from this core. Through the lens of art, students will study in the necessary courses to guide their individualized exploration, development, and the expression of their creative spirit. In addition, KSA will engage nationally recognized faculty and artists to nurture students’ creative practice through exposure to traditional and contemporary art practices.”
