This year we celebrated the women’s day joining with the women of Chechadi at Mahuadanr. The main invitees were the women professors from the St. Xavier’s college Mahuadanr. We started with a procession calling out slogans about the unity of women and that atrocities against women will not be tolerated. The procession began in Dak Bungalow and ended one kilometer away in the block office premises. The main theme was ‘Prevention of Trafficking’. Alcoholism in the family, poverty, and not able to complete their education leads children to drop out from the mainstream and go for working in the cities being trapped by the agents.

Nazareth Health Centre Kutuderi led the theme with a street play. The main artists were two trainees from Arunodaya Patna who are on their placement. The resource persons as a solution for the trafficking talked about strengthening of one’s own local resource by water harvesting by doing cultivation throughout the year, will better the nutrition level as well it will bring in enough money for the education of children.

The audience were 600 women who came from a long distance down from their hillock and other parts of the valley.
