Sister Joan Robishaw is a very active “retired” Sister! As you see in the photo, her hands have not been idle. She has been busy throughout the year making mittens, scarves, and hats for children. This project of caring began not long after she moved to Nazareth ten years ago and continues to the present.
The items were carefully made and packed with love and are now on their way to one of Sister Joan’s friends who lives in Newburyport and ministers to people living in poverty. The children will undoubtedly be very happy to receive warm mittens for the sometimes harsh cold winters of Massachusetts.
Sister Barbara Joseph (BJ) Lammers also helped knit for this good cause. Together, Sisters Joan and BJ sent four scarves, four hats, and 28 pairs of mittens. For those of us who don’t know how to make the first stitch in knitting, that is an admirable accomplishment! Thank you, Sisters Joan and BJ for your example of selfless sharing.
Joanie and B.J., the children who receive your handiwork are lucky indeed. We are proud of your “ giving warmth” ministry.
What a great gift. I love mittens and wear them every winter.
They are not just for children!
Thank you Joan and BJ for sharing your knitting talents with those in need. Your work is beautifully done!
