Fourteen members of St. Joseph Youth Group, in Bardstown, Kentucky, along with their adult leaders, Ellen Sprigg, Susan Brown and Felicia Rowe, assistant director of the SCN Lay Mission Volunteers, were commissioned during Liturgy at St. Vincent Church. The group then attended an orientation in preparation for their departure to Belize City, then worked to build a home for a family in need in collaboration with Hand in Hand Ministries.

The SCN volunteers completed their third day at the construction site in the Lord’s Bank area of Belize City. Sunny blue skies and strong breezes have pleasantly surprised the crew, as they anticipated extreme heat and rain. The work was especially exciting on the third day because the group assembled the walls and raised the roof together with the family who will live in the new home.
