SCNs and their collaborators celebrated International Women’s Day on March 13, 2016 in Mandair. Women and men from different caste and religious background came together to plan for the celebrations, and together decorated the place a week in advance. On the day of the event, around 3000 women, children and men of all castes and religions came in procession with music, dances, songs and slogans, from all directions. The joy and the enthusiasm of the people made the venue quite memorable.

Jharkhand state assembly members, Mrs. Gangotri Kujur from Mandair and Mr. Ganesh Ganjhoo, from Simaria constituencies, Mrs. Mamta Devi, district councillor secretary of Chatra, village heads, (Mukhayas and Pramukhs), ward and panchayat members and important local officials of the area were present for the function. The invited guests gave touching speeches to encourage the women to come forward to build our nation. They highlighted that the power of women is a great power, one that can change families and society at large.

Various groups presented cultural programs to entertain the audience and to showcase the rich Indian culture to pass on to the next generation. First, second, and third prizes were given to the winners and as well as consolation prizes. A delicious meal was served. It was a red letter day of the year for the Mandair mission. Congratulations to the committee for their hard work which made the day a successful one.
