Over 60 young athletes from the five schools of Bangalore Province gathered in St. Vincent Matriculation School, Trichy, on Jan. 13 for a day-long inter-school sports meet. Gathering for competitions has been an annual feature of SCN schools in Bangalore Province.

This was introduced to promote understanding of cultures, imparting lessons on sportsman spirit, and camaraderie among students of our schools. The event this year drew visitors from the neighborhood whose presence encouraged the participants. As the day of the event coincided with the harvest festival, Pongal of Tamil Nadu, the students were treated with a colorful cultural extravaganza depicting the celebrations of Pongal.

The sports meet included track and field events along with team events of volleyball and badminton. Asian Grand Prix 100m and 200m champion, Manikanda Arumugam graced the occasion with his presence and encouraged the participants.

Students of St. Vincent Matriculation School emerged as the overall champions while students from Nazareth School, Banakal bagged the runners-up shield.

The SCN educators who gathered for the event were proud to see the talents of our students from various institutions. We thank Sister Saleth Mary, the staff and students of St. Vincent Matriculation School for the successful conduct of this mega event and we congratulate all the participants.
