Dear Sisters and Associates,
It is with great joy and hope that we announce the Executive Committee decision to begin Initial Formation in Botswana on December 1, 2012!!
Starting Initial Formation has been a dream of SCNs in Botswana for several years. They have invited young women who are exploring possibilities for their future to join in sharing prayer and their faith journey. Recently, young women have approached the Sisters to ask whether we are open to accepting new members.
In this Bicentennial year we are blest that young women in Botswana, “impelled by the love of Christ,” wish to join us. As we recall the SCN journey since 1812, we believe that the fire that inspired Catherine Spalding has clearly sparked much energy towards inclusivity and internationality among SCNs in our newest mission. Our history through the years reminds us of the choices we have made to embrace the new, bringing another perspective to an already diverse congregation – along with the challenge to be intercultural in a new way.
We are trusting in Divine Providence and counting on your prayers as we work to put all that is needed in place between now and December. This is truly an exciting time in the Congregation, and we look forward with great expectation as the SCN charism of charity moves in new ways to the land and people of Botswana!
Blessings and love,
Mary Elizabeth Miller, SCN
for the Executive Committee
