Independence Day

Nazareth Academy, Mokama, celebrated the 70th Independence Day of India with flag hoisting and a program. Basanti Lakra, SCN, provincial, the chief guest, hoisted the flag. Philomena Kottoor, SCN, vice provincial, was the guest of honor for the occasion.

Class four students highlighted the inter-religious harmony and national integration through a skit. Students exhibited their talents in singing patriotic songs, dancing, giving speeches and other programs. The audience, mostly parents of the students were spell bound to see their children perform confidently on the stage. Many were moved to tears to see the patriotic fervor of the young students.

Rena Fernandes, SCN, the principal, SCN teachers, Ann George Mukalel and Rajni Toppo, and other lay teachers worked very hard to prepare the students for the day. Sisters who gathered for the area-wise meeting attended the flag hoisting ceremony and enjoyed the program of the students. View more photos.
