Children with a desire to learn, Sisters reach out to educate

When it was a discovered that a group of children from a nomadic tribe were not attending school, Sisters took the classroom to them. Sister Jetti says she is happy to see the children showing interest and learning to write.

India’s 72nd Independence Day celebrations in Mokama

At Mokama Nazareth Hospital grounds, Joseph Rajendra, SCNA, hoisted the tricolor (Indian flag) at 7:00 a.m. in the presence of the employees, nurses, the children of the shelter home, the candidates, novices and the SCN Sisters. Joseph in his short speech said that though the children sang a patriotic song of having peace at every corner of India, the reality is different. He wished for tolerance, peace and the Indian women and girls feel safe in India.

Sisters prepare to help as flooding continues in Kerala

As torrential rains hammer Kerela, a sense of normalcy for residents near the Sisters’ school in Anakkampoyil is hard to find. The southern Indian state is reeling under the worst natural calamity it has faced in nearly a century.

Final vows in Mokama

SCNs Rita Barla, Sushma Kullu, and Tarcilla Cilbiya Kandulna made their Perpetual Vows during the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Cajetan Francis of Muzaffarpur diocese and nine other priests at the convent chapel in Mokama on Aug. 11, 2018. Family members, relatives, and friends were present to witness their final commitment.

Flooding in southwestern India

Monsoon rain will continue to target southwestern India, where nearly two dozen people were killed this week. Many dams have been filled to near capacity. Sisters in Kerala request prayers for the safety of those in the area.

Inter-novitiate program

After a five day Inter Novitiate program, the first year novices are back from Matridham Ashram, Varanasi. Novices from the Congregation of Jesus, Sacred Hearts, Holy Cross and Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (total 44) were privileged to have the Ashram experience while they had a special them emotional maturity and inner healing through the word of God.

They risk their lives and resources, both personally and corporately, as they engage in diverse ministries in carrying out this mission.
