In Nepal, Navjyoti Center continues to support flood affected families
Nearly 200 families of Hariharpur, Bheri, displaced by the flood in August 2014, are still living in a Girighat forest shelter made up of plastic tents. Hariharpur is a village development committee in Surkhet District in the Bheri Zone of mid-western Nepal. The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth minister to this area.
The Sisters’ Navjyoti Center conducted a health camp for the families in the shelter. The sick were given free medication and liquid chlorine (piyush). Pregnant and lactating mothers were given nutrition support. Nearly 200 school children who are studying in temporary school buildings were given educational support. Navjyoti Center has been supporting the child center in the shelter where 25 children receive free education and enjoy their time together.
