The fresh golden flower decorations in the Mokama Nazareth Convent chapel blended with the golden jubilarians: SCNs Joel Urumpil, Karuna Thottumarickal, Maria Palathingal, Rosemarie Lakra and Teresa Xavier Ponnazhath. They along with the five priests and the provincial, Philomena Kottoor processed to the altar amidst the dance of the twenty-five SCN candidates holding two lit (diyas) lamps in their hands. The candidates placed the burning diyas on a stand on both sides of the chapel.
In her introduction, Suchita Kullu, SCN, the novice director said that we have an extraordinarily unique group of golden jubilarians who have christened themselves as the ‘sunshine group’. She also gave a brief glimpse of the lives of the jubilarians. They are a close-knit group that takes time to pray together, to share the ups and downs of their lives to uphold, support and encourage one another in community and mission. Their novitiate companion, Lucia Thuluvanickel, SCN (deceased) was also especially remembered at every phase of the Eucharist.
The main celebrant, Father Alex, Mokama parish priest, in his homily said that the golden jubilee is a grateful celebration of God’s gratuitous call for these Sisters. God called them out of love to be with God and God’s people in service in hardships and joys.
At the end of the Mass, Sister Philomena released the book, ‘Awesome God’ authored by Teresa Xavier Ponnazhath, SCN. This book contains the deepest God experiences of Teresa through people in ministry. It is a song of praise as she celebrates her fifty Golden years in the SCN Family! Sister Philo presented the first copy to Teresa.
Seventy SCNs, four SCNAs, Novices, and candidates were present for the beautiful liturgy. After lunch, the candidates, novices, Convent Sisters and Chatra community entertained the audience with a delightful cultural program.
The golden jubilarians were honored and crowned during the program. They especially remembered and thanked God for the deceased members of their families and the SCN Family. The jubilarians expressed their deepest gratitude to all in the province, Congregation, and their formators.
